Everything starts at something just like how a fire starts with single strike of a match stick. Blogging starts with a name – a title. Then, this name eventually gives the direction of the blog. April 1, 2018 – I started a blog out of curiosity. Two years to date, I realized how I enjoyed the luxury of ignorance. I know nothing about blogging – how to make one and how it works. All I really wanted was to find an outlet on how to let my thoughts (not dogs) out. Until now, I am still swimming in the sea of ideas and insights made out of personal encounters and experiences. In real life, I know how to swim but in my mind, I sometimes drown myself. Thus, littlemisadvencha was born. Blogging is my coping mechanism to the many things happening to and around me. April 1, 2018. It’s two years old today. Happy quarantined birthday to my blog! But, why the name littlemisadvencha?
My blog two years ago…
Before everything else, if you don’t know me yet, I’m Cha (Nice to meet you. No shaking of hands this time, please), and I’m a night owl. I tend to stay up late at night or perhaps, until the early hours in the morning until I get satisfied with the results of what I’m doing. That’s one way of assessing myself if I’m really passionate and in love with what I am doing. Otherwise, I’d rather sleep.
In retrospect, I believe I gave birth to this blog in the middle of the night where my thoughts and energy were at peak. Now, you have an idea that something good can be made out of staying up late. That’s how it is all the time even until now. Okay, so, littlemisadvencha stands for “little misadventure” + “cha”.
First, why misadventure?
As defined in the dictionary, a misadventure is a mishap or an unfortunate incident. Well, isn’t life full of it? In fact, I was interrupted while writing the draft of this post. I forgot to plug in my laptop charger, and the battery was emptied. Voila! I kept wondering if a copy was saved while restarting. Thanks to auto recovery – the draft was saved. This is exactly what I mean. In the course of our life, we all face something – some of which we can’t forget. Name them all – from broken hearts and trust, loss of lives to simple mishaps like tripping while walking or even dropping the last scoop of your favorite ice cream to the floor. Bad things happen even to the best of us.
Second, why little?
Okay – I’m going to make Covid-19 an example. A virus is a small parasite naked to the eye that is much smaller than a bacteria. So, how small is a bacteria cell? If you have a ruler, kindly get it and measure how small is 1 mm. Small, right? But, that’s not how small a bacteria cell is. A bacteria cell can be as small as 0.0001 mm and a virus is smaller than that. But, just imagine how big the impact of coronavirus is – a virus that small which caused a pandemic that eventually led to loss of lives and economic damage. Going back – it’s little because even the smallest of the mishaps can teach us some of the greatest impact and lessons in life.
Third, why cha? You answer.
Bad things happen to everyone. These things need to be transmuted into funny, wise or inspirational stories. To earnings. It actually depends on what your coping mechanism or way of healing is. Some choose to travel. Some are into playing games. But, I am into transforming these bittersweet experiences into words. If I do not do anything about it, it will only flood my memories which in turn, overwhelms me. Don’t worry because this blog is not all about negative experiences. I’ll be sharing as well my happy memories. As much as possible, I want to get them out of my brain and get them on a paper. That’s when I start to feel freedom. That’s when I realize I surrender to writing in order to win.
This blog wants to connect with you. I personally feel that a person whose heart has been broken will tell us a lot more about life, which also lets those who get the lesson change the way they see towards life.
Life goes on. I hope that when you stumble upon this blog, you get something.
