There are songs which stick into our heads for hours, days, months, but we don’t really like them. Then, there are songs which we consciously return to again and again that will make you smile immediately when they start to consume your environment. We all have favorite songs. If you’ve been following me the past few days, I am still keeping up with the 30-day blog challenge. I am now on day 07. In this post, I will be playing my favorite songs.

My Favorite Songs
5. My Chemical Romance – Disenchanted
This song never left me since high school – even when I started working here in Cebu five years ago. The first years here were the hardest, becuase I was coping up with transition and my greatest heart break. Every time I was sad, I played this on repeat, and I felt alive again. There will be that lonely side of us – and this other side of me loves this song. Just like the person in the song who tried so hard to make his life meaningful with all the attempts, sometimes, they don’t mean anything at all and we get disappointed. In life, we couldn’t have it all – I guess this is the song for all my disappointments.

4. Jason Mraz – 93 Million Miles
So, I have lived away from home for a while now. I first heard this song during the first year away from home. Every single time I listen to this song, it’s really nostalgic. What I love about this song is it reminds me of my parents, especially my mother – telling me good luck on whatever I am doing, pushing me to do whatever I love to do, and telling me I will always have a place at home every time I want to go back.

3. Kenny Rogers – Through the Years
When I was still in college, I used to listen to the radio before I sleep. This song was played and it made me cried. I couldn’t remember exactly the reason why I got so emotional that night, but all I could think of is the gratitude towards my family, parents, friends, and people who never leave. When I grow old, how wonderful it is to sing this song with my husband while counting our white hairs.

2. Dan Fogelberg – Leader of the Band
I get goosebumps every time I hear the lyrics of this song. It talks about courage and gratitude. Hear it for yourself so you will know what I mean.

1. Simon and Garfunkel – Sound of Silence
Here’s my favorite song which I can play countless times without being fed up! I found out that this song was written when Simon was still 21 years old. Then, I thought “What a man full of wisdom at such a young age”. The world has never been noisier than today. And because the world is noisy, it’s pretty hard to think and reflect. In this song, you will learn the value of silence and how it helps a person to reflect and understand.

There you have the list of my favorite songs. This post is part of the 30-day blog challenge below.
