Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I am in the middle of experimenting ads and placements on my site pages because I am trying to increase the revenues I get from Google ads. So, I made a little research online and compiled these things into a list so I can share it to you. Please remember that there is no hard or fast written rule anywhere to increase Google Adsense revenues because it depends on a variety of factors. However, the below list is coming from the best practices so you might be able to learn something new in this article.
Moreover, it’s not only limited to this list. You can go ahead and do your own research for your best interests. Alright, without any further ado, let’s start tackling about some blogging tips on how to increase Google Adsense revenues.
Tips to Increase Your Google Adsense Revenues
#1 Generate more traffic to your site
One of the most important factors is the volume of traffic you generate to your website. When you have more visitors, it means more chances of ad clicks which ultimately will increase google adsense revenues. Find ways to drive thousands of visitors to your website, online store, or affiliate links (if you have). Below are ways on how you can make money with increased blog traffic.
1.a Page Views. PPM stands for Pay Per Mille. The mille is Latin, a word that means “thousand.” In this case, the M is referring to a thousand impressions. PPM ads, or ads that pay you an amount of money per thousand views of the ads, make up this category. They tend to be low paying, and you won’t be making much money unless you have significant volume of traffic.
Below is a snippet from my Google Adsense report from the last few days. Page RPM stands for Page Revenues per 1000 ad impressions. For us advertisers, it is really a must if readers go slow in scrolling down our pages because it adds up to a greater number of ad impressions.
1.b PPC Ads and Actions. PPC ads stands for Pay Per Click. When a user clicks the ad, you will be paid. Normal affiliate ads usually require a visitor to make a purchase, which we will discuss in the next paragraph.
Below is a snippet of my estimated earning from the PPC ads for the last few days. CPC (5th column) stands for Cost per Click. The estimated earnings are computed by multiplying the CPC by the number of clicks for that day.
1.c Affiliate Marketing. Affiliate marketing is another way to earn money. You sign up to become an “affiliate” for a company selling its products. Then, when you get approved, you will market the company’s products using your website for a commission. Most of the time, you will only earn once a user makes a purchase through the link posted on your site. That’s why having a high traffic volume is an advantage.
#2 Create SEO friendly articles
Since I am a WordPress user, I am using Yoast SEO to create an optimized article. Yoast SEO is one of the most popular WordPress plugins. It is a powerful tool that can help you make your site as search engine-friendly as possible. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. In simple words, it helps your site appear in the search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. Below are some of the tips that you have to satisfy to make a SEO friendly article.
- Outbound links: Use at least one outbound link in your article.
- Internal links: Use at least one internal link in your article.
- Meta description length: Specify your meta description. Search engines will display copy from the page instead.
- Use Keyphrase in subheading: Use your keyphrase/keywords in your headings/subheadings.
- Keyphrase in title: Make sure that the keyphrase you specify appears in your blog title.
- Use Keyphrase in introduction:Your keyphrase or its synonyms should appear in the first paragraph.
- Image alt attributes: Images on your article should have alt attributes that reflect the topic of your text.
- Keyphrase in slug: Part of your keyphrase should appear in the slug.
- Observe proper Keyphrase length.
- Keyphrase density: The focus keyphrase should be found three (3) times as minimum in your article.
- Previously used keyphrase: Make sure you have not used this keyphrase in your previous articles.
- Text length: A SE0 friendly article should have a minimum number of 500 words to be considered good.
#3 Use high paying keyphrase
If you want to increase your Google Adsense revenues, you need to use higher paying keyphrase/keywords. You will find that some Adsense clicks have very low revenues while others bring in a couple of dollars. You can use the Google Adwords tool to determine whether advertisers are spending a large amount per click (CPC).
#4 Limit your adsense blocks
Limit the number of your ad units per page. Although it is a little bit contradicting with tip #1 for the ad impressions part and while you might think that multiple ads mean multiple ways to increase your Google Adsense revenues, what really happens is that lower value ads are placed on your site if you have multiple ads instead of the good ones. Find the balance.
#5 Make your ads sticky
Place more content links (ads, posts, etc) in the sidebar of your page. Let your readers know what your most popular and most commented contents are. Make them sticky so that visitors will be curious why those particular pieces are there to keep them on your site even longer. Then, it will lead to more potential Google AdSense earnings when they start clicking.
#6 Use multiple ad formats
The main ads by Google Adsense is already great, but it is only one of the three formats. If you want to increase your Google Adsense revenues, you can also include the other two which are the text link ad and the Google search tool. Using one of each of these three formats in your page does not violate rule #4.
#7 Place a large rectangular ad above the fold (ATF)
The best way for you to outline or format your page is to have your headline followed by a large horizontal Google Adsense ad unit.
#8 Use in-article ads
Using in-feed or in- article ads are great because they fit naturally on your site. Additionally, they use high quality advertiser elements in between your paragraphs which provide a more attractive experience for the readers.
#9 Use responsive ads
Google adsense or any platform has the option to make your ads responsive or not. It’s better to use responsive ads because they automatically adjust their size, appearance, and format to fit the available slots.
10 Create experiments and testing
All of the tips mentioned above are based on “best practices” collected from other people’s experiences. However, to increase Google Adsense revenues, you have to test things on your own. Make experiments on the placement, colors, format, and sizes. Then, when you find a format that works, stick with it.
