Hike to Tops Lookout in Busay on a Sunday Morning

hike to tops lookout

4 in the morning. I woke up finding myself googling about pain in the lower left abdomen. It was a sharp pain for unknown reason. Then, I read that it could be due to gas, indigestion or inflammation. or could it be the sleeping position? I do have 5 heads to blame. Two cats on top of my head, one on my side, one between my legs, and another resting on my foot. Literally, I couldn’t move. The next few minutes, in the beep of my alarm, I started contemplating. Will I ever go today? I had a few more minutes to decide. You know, I’ve been wanting to do it so I could have some sort of workout (In fact, it’s my first of the year), and perhaps you can relate – the enthusiasm and energies are high during the planning stage, but when the actual day comes, only few arrive. So, I got up because I decided I want to be part of the “few”. Thankfully, the pain left me the moment I got on my feet. So, today I am sharing to you our Sunday hike to Tops Lookout in Busay.

Tops Lookout: Place for Overlooking Cebu Skyline

Tops Lookout in Busay is around 13 km from our home in the heart of the city, and it gives an overlooking view of Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu. The best time to come to Tops Lookout in Busay is during sunset to night where you can see the amazing transformation of day to twilight, and you will be mesmerized by the dazzling lights of the cities below.

Getting there is not easy. Since Tops Lookout is perched atop the mountain peak and the road is steep, there are only two most common options to go there.

The cheaper one is through habal-habal or motorcyle. It’s not for the faint-hearted because you will ride at the back of the driver going up the winding road to the mountain. Travel time is around 15 to 20 minutes. If you prefer convenience, then, choose to ride a taxi which is almost 8 to 10 times more expensive. Travel time is around 20 minutes.

Here is the exact location of Tops Lookout in Busay.

Hike to Tops Lookout:
Starting Point

Ate Jean and I met at The Persimmon. I got my first dose of coffee that day to energize me for the upcoming adven-cha! I am also wearing this orange bandana which is very special to me, aside from the fact that it’s my first.

…and we started the hike!

We also met friends from Paksit Photos and Active Sports. Thank you for these souvenirs!

The distance didn’t matter because along the way, we also met some furry friends who also waited to be petted! Friends do really make life so much better. They boost our happiness and reduce the exhaustion.

Finally reached the top after 13 kilometers…

After we reached the top, we took some pictures and stayed for a while. Then, we started to go back to our route since there were no vehicles. We had no choice! It was indeed very tiring to walk another 7 km before we found a cab.

TIRED, YET FULFILLED. You know that your own exhaustion is energizing. We came away tired but there is a sense of fulfillment doing it. That’s exactly how I felt at the end of the day, and I wouldn’t mind doing it again. Finally, I’m back on track after hibernation. So, where to next? 🙂

This hike to Top’s Lookout looks incredible. I am loving the images and how fun to meet furry friends along the way! I went on a hike once and it was absolutely the most inspiring adventure into nature I’ve experienced. Very exhausting but worth it. And absolutely energizing.

That looks like such an amazing hike. It would be fun to do it sometime. I lived in the Philippines for a couple years a long time ago. But I never got to go to Cebu.
