Don’t Expect People To Be Always There For You

don't expect people to be always there for you

No man is an island. Of course, man is a social animal. Ever since a man’s born, he is constantly looking for a companion. Be it family, friends, even lovers. He is consistently looking for people who are going to stick with him and will never leave him alone. However, as soon as you understand that it doesn’t have to be that way and some are better off alone, you will never be happy. That’s why don’t expect people to be always there for you. Most especially, don’t depend on anyone for your own happiness.

There’s no denying that friends and family are our pillars of support.

As I grow older, we tend to discover just who our real friends are. Nope. Ever since, we already know who they are. As time goes by, it is just being validated. A decade back in high school, I met them. We all shared the ups and downs. Right now, we don’t talk everyday, not even weeks. But, the bind is always there. We are not the clingy type who need a conversation everyday to keep the friendship alive. And I guess, that’ what I love about “us” the most. You know – they are the ones who keep in touch despite the distance but not to the point of having the need to converse everyday just to keep the friendship alive. These are the friends who never forget your birthday, the ones you call when you have big news (and celebrate with you) and the ones you call when you can’t no longer hold on. We meet friends along the way as we go on in life and as we move to different places, but this set of friends will never be forgotten. They’re gold!

Both our friends and family are our own pillars of support because they give us strength and stand proud on our side especially during the difficult times. We don’t need words before they know how we feel, because they know everything about you and you don’t need to explain yourself to them. In times of self-doubt, they believe us and help us grow.

Friendship has a voluntary nature…

As people grow up and move away, beautiful and strong friendships are the ones that most likely to take a hit. Like for me, I am busy with my rescues, my schooling and my job. Sometimes, I find myself stuck with all these things. However, everytime I want to run over to someone whom I share a beautiful and rock solid friendship with, I know and I trust that he/she will give me a couple hours to have a drink and talk about life in general.

See the beauty? Friendship has a voluntary nature. It’s one of the life’s beautiful mysteries. You can go on with your own life, do your own thing, excel in your careers, but every time you stumble, you know that they are there. The beautiful thing about rock solid friendship is that friends are friends because they choose each other over time. They can choose to get in. They can choose to get out.

Your happiness still relies on you

The highlight: Don’t expect people to be always there for you. If you are wise enough, you know that people have priorities and we go our own ways. But that special bind between you and them serves us reminder that you have a shoulder every time you want to cry. Still, your happiness relies on you. That independence in not expecting others to serve you your happiness is not as dramatic as it sounds.

Don’t confuse loneliness with being alone. You will continue to move forward in this life and you have to feel complete by loving your own company. Our real friends are there to give us strength, but don’t go looking for people to give them all to you.

You are capable of giving it to your own self, and you are also capable of giving it to others. As soon as you understand this, you will never have real happiness.
