Cebu has become a great trekking destination because of its popular scenic mountains, and can you guess what’s the great deal? One of nicest things about this activity is there is definitely no need to travel for long hours because these destinations are all within reach. The mountains of Dalaguete are just 3 hours away from the city. Ofcourse, Dalaguete is famous for Osmena Peak, known as the highest point in Cebu island. During summer, the cold weather is something to look forward. However, besides this mainstream attraction, Dalaguete has more mountains to offer. Casino Peak in Dalaguete is the new hip bringing both Baguio (cold weather) and Bohol (Chocolate Hills) feels to the Visayas.

Casino Peak in Dalaguete is also known as Lugsangan Peak. It is famous for its “Chocolate Hill-like mountain-lets”. It is located in Lugsaangan, Tabon, Dalaguete in South Cebu. When you reach the top, the peak offers you jaw-dropping sights of the green landscapes, horizon, the sea and the Negros Island. You will surely be reminded of Bohol’s Chocolate Hills.
HOW TO GET TO CASINO PEAK IN DALAGUETE
From Cebu City South Bus Terminal, ride a bus going to Dalaguete. Tell the conductor to drop you off at Dalaguete junction. You will know you are already there because you will be dropped off just in front of 7-Eleven Dalaguete Branch. The bus fare is P120/head and the trip will take you about 2.5 to 3 hrs from Cebu City. Next, take a habal-habal (motorcycle) ride to Lugsangan. We payed P150/head. If you are a good negotiator and you go there in group, you can bargain. Tell the driver that you’ll be heading to Casino Peak as there are many peaks in Dalaguete. We left the city around 4 a.m. and arrive at Dalaguete proper at around 7 a.m.

Beautiful sceneries will welcome you even when you’re still on habal-habal. You will experience the embrace of nature at its best.

We were told that trek time is usually 20 minutes—but it took us about 30 minutes going up. It’s because we couldn’t resist having stops for photos of the breathtaking scenery.
It is necessary to have proper footwear because the rocks are real sharp when going up.

After the exciting ride, we started the ascend. You have the option if you want a tour guide (a local from there). Any amount that serves a donation for the tour guide will do. We gave the tour guide P250 total since there were 5 of us and we contributed P50/each. For veteran climbers, a guide is not necessary. Please take note also there is no entrance fee at Casino Peak.

Though considered as a minor hike, the way going up to Casino Peak is much more challenging than the Osmena Peak. Nevertheless, the experience was real good because I was with beautiful people. 🙂

Wow! Another peak to peek into. Not really into hiking, most especially if it’s uphill, but I am quite curious about trying.
